On a cold evening with intermittent heavy showers and the odd rainbow, it seemed doubtful that many riders would turn up for Banbury Star CC’s weekly time trial. Yet such is the enthusiasm in the club at the moment for time trialling that 20 committed members turned up to take on the 20k course.
The brave 20, including the time keeper
After four events on the 20k course, what is already emerging is a three way battle between Simon Kisley, Darren Alexander and Jonathan Ward with only a few seconds splitting them and all regularly getting under the 30 minute barrier. Simon again came out on top for the second time this season, recording 29.16, just 26 seconds ahead of Darren, who in turn beat Jonathan by only 2 seconds. Of the three, Darren has in fact set the fastest time of 29.09, but on that occasion was beaten into second place by visiting Henry Sleight’s sub 29 minute time.
Simon sets off on his winning ways, with Darren about to follow.
To further emphasise the growth of time trialling within the club, a record total of 18 Star riders have entered the Coventry 10 mile TT on Saturday 5th May.
