Child and Club Welfare Officer

Hi, I am Dave Pittman, Welfare Officer for Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club. I was duly elected into the post early 2017 by the club membership following a decision to expand and develop the club. This move would help make the club more accessible and inclusive for people of all ages and abilities regardless of any factors. I am enhanced DBS security cleared (used to be CRB) and am registered as the Club’s Welfare Officer with British Cycling. I have also completed the NSPCC training for safeguarding children in sport, renewable every 3 years which is fundamental to remaining up to date with safeguarding legislation.

As a 45+ yr. old parent myself, I fully understand the anxieties, concerns and questions that are raised when your child asks to join a club, likewise the anxieties raised as an adult looking to join a new club or continue to be a part of a club. However, together with the club committee, we are fully committed to ensure that all our riders are safe at all times, and that everyone involved will remain in a trouble free enjoyable environment.
Riders, members and parents are encouraged to contact either myself should they have any questions or concerns whatsoever with regard to safeguarding matters, or indeed anything else that is of concern to them. If I am not readily available please speak to any of our coaches or Committee members who will try and help and will raise your concerns with me. I can be contacted via e-mail Welfare Officer. All contact will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
