Autumn has definitely arrived so it’s time to dust off the winter bikes, mudguards and baselayers for a weekend of fun with one additional ride thrown in for good measure.
Saturday has two rides which both meet at Broadribbs Cycles:
0900 – a one-off special of the infamous seven cols route which will test the legs and lungs of the nimblest mountain goat. There’s no specific leader for this, but usual club etiquette will apply, e.g. reasonable pace, waiting at the top of the hills etc.
1000 – a more sedate ride out to Sulgrave Whichford and its pottery for coffee and cake. Sulgrave is on reduced winter opening hours hence the last minute change.
Those rides should have you warmed up nicely for Sunday, both rides meet amongst the detritus of a Saturday night at the Dog and Gun pub:
0830 – for once this doesn’t stray too far from Banbury and gives those who did the seven cols the day before a bit of a breather as it avoids the major hills so a quick pace over the 55 miles will be maintained. A ride leader is needed.
1000 – The Red Lion at Steeple Aston will be the destination for a half time pit-stop on this 35 mile jaunt.
