2017 time trial #12 K4/20

Record 52 rider entry for Banbury Star weekly time trial.

One of the warmest and windless evenings of the year so far brought with it a record entry of riders, including an increasing number of women. The entry also contained some of the best local time trial riders, including two pro-riders. One of them George Fowler, who rides for CatfordCC/Banks, set the fastest time of the night, 26m 36s, beating regular front runner and course record holder Jon Simpkins (Drag 2 Zero) by just 12 seconds. Proof of this competitive field was the fact that 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th positions were covered by a mere 8 seconds.

On a perfect evening, almost all riders managed to achieve personal best times on the popular 20km course, with everyone putting in sub 40 minute times and eleven riders under 30 minutes. Leading women rider Jess Rhode Jones finished an excellent 9th overall on 29m 44s, just missing out on the women’s course record by 3 seconds.
