The weather was unfortunately again unkind for the second of Banbury Star CC’s Wednesday evening time trials, with the popular annual 2 Up TT receiving an entry of just 8 teams. The format is simple, in that you ride together as a pair, taking it in turns to ride at the front, which then allows the rider at the rear to take a short “rest”. Ridden well, this would normally mean a rider reducing their solo time over the 20km course by just over a minute.
Experienced Star riders Mark Boyles and Simon Kisley dodged the puddles and standing water to top the leader board with a time of 30.18, 44 seconds ahead of young duo Lydia Watts and Cameron Foster, with Reuben Trotter and Gregor Kelling 3rd. Special mention should go to the only all female team of mother and daughter Kim Shaw and Heidi Yates from Team Cherwell who finished 6th.

Whilst this was a team event, 10 riders elected to ride solo, with Jonathan Ward not only setting the only sub 30 minute time of 29.52, but also beating the best 2 Up times.
