Member Chris Tunstall tells his story of the 1,000 miles he’s riding this year in support of his grandson. Yesterday’s Banbury Guardian (10th May) covered the story, mentioning Chris as a club member.
In August 2017 my wife Ruby was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. About 4 weeks later my Grandson Marco was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Ruby has completed her treatment and Marco is progressing well. It isn’t an easy journey, but God is faithful and is sustaining us through it.
As a family we are so very grateful for the support and technical expertise of the doctors and nurses, the love and support of our friends and family and the prayers for Ruby and Marco’s healing.
It is amazing how medical science has progressed. However, much of the research required to win the battle against cancer is funded by charitable donations. To help raise money, I aim to cycle 1000 miles during 2018. As Marco is still undergoing treatment, I’ve entitled my campaign “1000 miles for Marco”. I will be self-funded and all the money raised will go to Bloodwise. A charity who fund research into finding cures for all forms of Blood cancer. See www.bloodwise.org.uk
The 1000 miles will be covered by a series of long distance sportives in the UK and in Europe.
