Banbury Star beat AMG Mercedes in Interclub TT

Last year’s inaugural interclub time trial between host club Banbury Star CC, AMG Mercedes and Team Cherwell proved a great success, so much so, that this year’s event attracted a record 55 rider entry. This was despite a longer journey for the 14 riders from the Brackley based team, as road works on the club’s normal 13 mile Banbury course required a last minute change to the fast 10 mile Tysoe course.

The warm still evening provided some very close times throughout the field, with the competition results based on the aggregate times of the seven fastest riders from each team. Banbury Star avenged their defeat last year, coming out on top with a total time of 167 minutes 56 seconds, this time beating AMG by 3.34, with Team Cherwell third. The top 3 riders from each team were as follows; Banbury Star: Tobias Wiesand, Lee Heron and Simon Kisley, AMG Mercedes: Mark Ellis, Dan Chambers and Ant Harris, Team Cherwell: Darren Alexander, Dan Pebody and Ben Heaney.

Not part of the competition, but fastest on the night was again Jon Simpkins (Drag2Zero) on 21.59, this time beating his new rival and club member Tobias Wiesand by 6 seconds. Suzy Patience was the fastest lady with a time of 25.55.
