Entry preview for the club’s annual road race

With entries now closed the club has a near capacity field of 78 riders for its annual men’s Cat 3/4 road race on Sunday 26th May. This includes 8 Star riders, Simon Bull and Michal Wisowski, who are both Cat 3, and Tobi Ng, Liam Fishwick, Stuart Quick, Luke Sherlock, Will Stowell and Tobias Wiesand, who are all Cat 4.

Whilst it’s almost impossible to pick favourites from such a large field on the tough 45 mile course, one visiting rider that must be fancied is local Team Jewson rider Jack O’Neill. Jack is a two time winner of our Hardriders TT, so is familiar with the local terrain, especially the hills. Also, three riders who finished in the top ten last year – Erin Baker (Team MK), Jack Broadley (University of Warwick) and Peter Medhurst – make a welcome return. The race starts at 9.30am.

The men’s race descends into Horley

The afternoon women’s race, which is round 2 of British Cycling’s Women’s Team Series, also contains a strong field, with entries from the following teams; Avid Sport, Bianchi Dama, Brother UK-Tifosi, Cycle Team OnForm, Liv Awol, Team Boompods, Team Vision Innovative Leisure, TW1 Racing and Velo Sport Jersey, coming all the way from the Channel Islands.

Traditionally this race always contains a lot of British Cycling’s best young up and coming women riders. The entry contains one Elite rider, Gabriella Homer, and several promising Category 1 riders. The race starts at 1.30pm.

We still require marshals on the day, so please contact John Tustian if you can help.
