Star riders tackle Didcot Phoenix 25 mile Open TT

Six club members travelled to Oxford to attend the Didcot Phoenix CC Open 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday. The 60 rider entry tackled the H25/17 fast undulating course in dry conditions, which comprises a return section of the A420 between the outskirts of Oxford and Faringdon.

Simon Bull was again the strongest Star rider who finished 21st with a time of 57.09, veteran Mike Kirby was 36th on 1.01.47, Ian Maconnachie 44th on 1.4.16, Helen French 51st on 1.11.22, Sam Wootton 53rd on 1.11.50 and Will Morgan DNS. Winner Chris Boddy (AeroCoach) dominated the event with a clear 31 second victory in a time of 49.48.

Emily McLoughlin (Didcot Phoenix CC) broke the women’s record with a time of 59.43, while a great effort was made by Banbury Star second claim rider Lydia Watts (Team 22) who finished third on 1.02.09.
