Star riders Simon Bull and Stuart Quick made a return visit to the K33/10 course south of Alcester on Saturday, this time for Beacon Roads Cycling Club’s Open 10 mile Janet Kelly Memorial TT. On the drive over the heavens opened with a very heavy shower, but by race time the roads had more or less dried out, the sun was trying to break through and the rain held off. Therefore conditions were pretty good aside from a headwind for the opening 3.5 miles.
The event attracted an 85 rider entry, but no doubt the weather reduced this to 61 on the day. Winner, by a margin of 7 seconds, was David Mead (Race Rapid), with a time of 19.46, averaging 30.46mph. Simon was once again on form, finishing 15th with a time of 21:37 for another PB and his first time under 22 minutes for a 10 mile TT. Stuart finished 32nd with a time of 23:39.
