Third K4/20 course win of the season for Simon Smart

After a break of a few weeks the club returned to its regular and popular (K4/20) 20km/13m course last night for its weekly Wednesday evening time trial. The popularity of this course and a perfect warm still evening attracted a large field of 40 riders, including 8 women and several welcome visitors.

With a large section of the course having recently been resurfaced together with the ideal still conditions some fast times were recorded, with the first seven riders all getting below the 30 minute mark. However, just outside that time in eight position on 30.32 was Naomi de Pennington, who managed to break Suzy Patience’s 2015 club record by 41 seconds. Naomi now holds three new course records as her strong season continues.

On form Simon Bull was just 39 seconds behind in second, with Ben Heaney and Nick Gardener tying for third on 29.43. In fact close times and PBs were the order of the night, with two further ties recorded throughout the field.
