Five Stars in action at Weston-on-the-Green Open TT

Mid-week TTs are not confined to our Wednesday night events, as five Banbury Star riders competed at the nearby RAF Weston-on-the-Green closed circuit TT course on Tuesday evening. Hosted by our friends at Bicester Millennium Cycling Club, this was an Open 10 Mile TT that consisted of 4 laps of a 2.5 Mile circuit around a flat exposed airfield that can get bumpy and narrow in places. There were 41 starters and many were from local clubs from the surrounding areas, the numbers illustrating just how popular our own club events have become.

The evening was warm and still, which was very welcome and unusual for this particular TT course and made for some fast times on the night. Ila Pearson, Matt Sleath and Lee Heron had ridden there before and knew what to expect, but it was new to Simon Bull and Rich Collier, who both enjoyed the novelty of not having any motor traffic or junctions to deal with.

Fastest man on the night, in a time of 20:27, was Matt Alder (Fairly Utd. CT), with Simon Bull, the fastest Star rider, finishing 10th overall on 22.35. The other club times were; Lee Heron: 24.14, Matt Sleath: 25.31, Rich Collier: 25.46 and Ila Pearson: 27.56, with both Rich and Ila setting PBs for a 10 mile Open Time Trial event.
