Danny Axford takes record breaking win at club’s second Open 10m TT

The club’s 10 mile Open TT attracted an entry of 55 riders, including 19 Star members, for its second running of this new annual event. The K4/10W course is run entirely on the B410 to the northwest of Banbury, starting near the top of Warmington Hill with the return point at the Gaydon roundabout and then back finishing near Warmington Hill Garage.

Whilst the conditions were dry and sunny a fresh crosswind along most of the course made it a challenging ride, particularly on the return leg, which included the climb just past MOD Kineton. Knowing the course always helps, as well as being fully warmed up, and clear winner on the day Danny Axford (Artic Aircon RT) was well prepared, having ridden the whole course just before his start time. His time of 20.53 also set a new record for the course, beating the old record by 35 seconds. In second place, 22 seconds further back was Ryan Davies (AS Test Team) on 21.15 with Simon Smart (Drag2Zero) on 22.25 in third.

Linda Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) won both the overall and Vets women’s category on 25.09 and local rider 18 year old Blaine Carpenter (Shutt Ridley RT) won the junior category on 22.45, finishing 8th overall.

First Star rider home was Simon Bull in 7th on 22.44.
