The club’s home TT season may be over, but a large contingent of 16 Banbury Star CC members took part in Coventry Road Club’s Open 10 mile TT on Saturday morning. Held in ideal conditions this popular local event took place on the K10/10 Princethorpe course to the south east of Coventry, which features fast smooth roads, long downhill sections, a dual carriage and a punchy climb.
Leading the 90 rider entry home was David Mead (Race Rapid) with a time of 19.22, averaging almost 31mph, with Jack O’Neill, who won the club’s Hardriders TT in March finishing third.
Simon Bull was again the first Star rider home
First Star rider home was again Simon Bull, who finished 12th overall, with a time of 21.30, with Luke Norris 23rd on 22.13 and Stuart Quick 27th on 22.43.
Lydia Watts (Cycle Team Onform), who is also a Banbury Star member, put in an excellent ride to win the women’s category with a time of 23.06. This was a very closely fought category with club member Naomi de Pennington finishing fourth on 23.38, only 32 seconds off Lydia’s winning time.
