Oxfordshire Supply Runs

Banbury Star CC and Banbury Harriers Athletic Club are working together with Cherwell District Council to deliver medication from the town’s pharmacies to those members of the community who are following the Government’s guidelines on self-isolation and limiting their travel.

Over 30 members of the club have rapidly volunteered to help, giving us morning, afternoon and evening delivery capability seven days a week. After a successful dry run on Friday, the scheme started in earnest on Monday this week with 7 deliveries on the second full day and a significant ramp-up predicted in the coming days and weeks. Each rider follows a strict hygiene process to prevent the onward spread of the virus when collecting and delivering the prescriptions.

As well as the delivery of prescriptions, it gives the volunteers an opportunity to check on the well-being of the recipients and the service is very well received:

“Fantastic….received with many thanks. It restores one’s faith in human nature to benefit from such kindness and also removes the burden from the pharmacy.” Mr Mrs C, Banbury.
