After a long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic we finally kick-off the hugely popular 2020 evening club time trial series this coming Wednesday with a 10 mile event on the K4/10W course which features the gift of Warmington Hill right at the start.
We’ve naturally had to introduce new, temporary, measures to comply with the revised risk assessment mandated by Cycling Time Trials that will minimise the risk of onward transmission of the virus, those changes must be read by all competitors and can be found here.
The K4/10W course is used for our Open event which is scheduled to take place on Sunday September 6th so this is a good warm-up event and an indicator of how well you’ve been training whilst we’ve waited for the resumption of racing.
Race HQ
Race number collection starts at 6pm in the layby outside the National Herb Centre on the B4100 Warwick Road where only limited parking for club officials will be available. If full please park on the lane to FN Pile but leave a note on your dashboard to say “FN Pile” so security know you are allowed to park there or in one of the laybys along the B4100. Sign-on closes at 6.40pm and the first rider will be off at 7.01pm. Please remember that for 2020 a working rear light is mandatory.

Race Route
After a self-supported start, riders will rapidly pick up speed as the race starts at the top of Warmington Hill which has a maximum drop of 14% with the Strava KOM and QOM both at 48 seconds. Club member Tobias Wiesand set the joint KOM during this event in 2018, hitting over 54mph during his descent. The gentle undulations of the B4100 then kick in before another big speed boost care of the 10% hill just before the MOD Kineton facility. That speed helps riders over the remainder of the rolling route to Gaydon where a turn is made after 5.5 miles to retrace the route back to the finish line which is at the bottom of Warmington hill.
