In almost perfect, dry and sunny conditions, 11 club members took part in Saturday’s Stratford CC’s Open TT, which attracted a full entry of 120 riders. The 10-mile undulating course, to the southwest of Stratford, started on the B4088 at Dunnington, before running out to the Norton roundabout and then back along the A46 to finish on the outskirts of Alcester.

As one of the first local Open TTs since lockdown, this event attracted a strong entry, so by finishing fourth, club member Luke Norris illustrated just how good his progress as a relative newcomer to time trialling has been. Luke set a time of 20m.25s, just beating regular Wednesday night TT rider Jon Simpkins, by 10 seconds.

Winner of the event was Richard Bussell (AeroCoach) who set a time of 18m.48s., which was also a new course record. In second place was David Fellows (Solihull CC) who is the current holder of the club’s Broughton Trophy for winning last year’s Hardriders TT.

Other leading club positions were Simon Bull in 18th on 21m.50s. and Luke’s father Matt Norris in 33rd on 22m.44s. First club woman member was Sian Marsh on 23m.34s. with a great effort that placed her 3rd overall in the women’s category.

The other club placings were; Mark Boyles 46th, Rich Collier 52nd, Matt Sleath 65th, Fay Barrington 66th, Amy Hinton 84th, Ila Pearson 99th, and Katherine Daniels 107th.
