It won’t be a surprise that the announcement earlier this week from the Government that extends their lockdown restriction lifting by another four weeks from June 21st to July 19th has impacted our planned ride to celebrate our 130th anniversary. The consequence is that the Hook Norton brewery visitor centre would not be able to host a group of more than 30 riders at any one time so we have taken the decision to postpone the ride.
All is not lost though because Ila Pearson has been quietly working in the background on an alternate date and we can now announce the ride will take place on:
SUNDAY 8th AUGUST
The format of the rides will be the same. We will meet outside Banbury Town Hall from 0930 for some club photos before the town’s Mayor sets us off in small groups from 1000 onwards. The destination, some 18 miles away, will still be the brewery where a club-provided buffet lunch, with appropriate liquid refreshments that one would expect from a brewery, will refresh the riders in readiness for the next part of their ride.
There will be three routes for the riders to take back to Banbury:
- 9 miles (27 miles in total)
- 17 miles (35 miles in total)
- 62 miles (130km in total)
Invites, dietary requirements, Garmin maps and more information will be sent out to all club members and our guest riders in the coming days. The Committee hopes you’ll be able to come along as we want to get as many riders as possible to come along and help celebrate our birthday.
