We reported last week on how Luke and Matt Norris got on at their first attempt at Crit racing at Thruxton race circuit. Luke led for many laps, then decided to hold back for the sprint, eventually finishing fourth.
They clearly enjoyed the experience and returned for more last night, to have another go. They both raced in the Cat 4 race, which comprised around 35 riders, in extremely windy conditions.
It’s hard to hold a fast man back and Luke again ran at the front for a few laps. Feeling good, this time he made a decisive break for it on lap 4, and pulled a gap which just kept growing. He won the race by a considerable distance and caught most, if not all, the Cat 3 race, which started before. A fantastic effort, which means he advances to Cat 3 in just two races.
Meanwhile, father Matt stayed in the lead pack for 8 laps, but then unfortunately lost the tow He managed to keep them in sight and finished around 20th we believe. No official results have been published yet.
They both race again on Saturday in the ART series and then it’s TT time again on Sunday with the Oxonian 10-mile TT.
