This will be our first time trial since 2020 when we’ve been able to lift limitations on group gatherings after some of the Covid restrictions have been lifted on July 19th. Since the resumption of racing last year, we’ve run 27 Covid-compliant events with over 1,250 riders and not had any reports of infections so well done everyone, let’s keep a clean sheet!
Yes, it’s a hilly TT again so this will undoubtedly attract the mountain goat fraternity plus those who fancy a bit of Wednesday pain and this is the last chance to revel in lung and leg busting efforts before we have an extended period of races on the pan-flat K4/20 (well, it’s flat if you squint a bit).
As always there are just 60 starting places up for grabs and early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.
This is the order of racing priority we will assign for all who register for our 2021 races:
1) Banbury Star CC members who’ve paid the TT supplement
2) Banbury Star CC members who’ve not paid the TT supplement
3) Team Cherwell members
4) Members of other clubs who have raced a TT with us last year
5) Everyone else
And within each of those categories, entry is determined based on the time you register to race so the earlier you do it the higher your chances of being able to take part.
Race Registration
Only riders who have registered will be able to race, for this season we cannot accept on-the-evening entries. The link to register is at the bottom of this page. Registration opens at 6am on Thursday and closes at 5pm on the MONDAY (not Tuesday) and we will be sending out an email on Tuesday evening to let entrants know if they have been successful (in case of over subscription) and also their start number.
For 2021, our Wednesday evening time trials will be conducted under the umbrella of The League International rather than CTT. The biggest change introduced by this change is the need for all riders to hold TLI membership which must be taken out before registering to ride. No “on the line” membership can be taken out as you will have to enter your membership number into the registration form.
Race HQ
Race number collection starts from 6pm in the carpark outside the National Herb Centre on the B4100. Please note there are no toilets available here.
Please remember that a working rear light is mandatory, no light equals no start and this rule will be strictly enforced. We also strongly recommend a front light is used by all riders as some of the course is covered with trees and you should take steps to make yourself more visible to other road users.
Parking
As well as the layby on the B4100, you will also be able to leave your car on the lane going to FN Pile and Sons, please park responsibly.

Race Route
After a standing start, at the end of Camp Lane, the speed immediately increases as riders descend Warmington Hill, 50mph is easy to achieve if you’re brave enough to go into a tuck and stay on the aero bars, you’ll want to keep this speed for as long as possible to continue along the next part of the B4100 where the 10% hill is then encountered. After a sharp left turn at the bottom of the hill you enjoy the smooth tarmac of the army barrack’s perimeter road and can ready yourself for the first ascent of Edge Hill where you will demonstrate your inner mountain goat to the massed hordes of cow bell-ringing spectators. On cresting the hill, it’s a left turn onto Camp Lane and before you know it you’ve completed the first lap – and then you get to do it all over again!
