On Wednesday evening 3 Banbury Star Juniors rode at Milton Keynes in the Summer Youth Development Series – Race No 2. At the Milton Keynes Bowl race is part of a series with the winners being the Youth A B C D E Girl and Boy who have collected the most points by the end of the last race. With the evening being warm and sticky, with little or no wind there was going to be some close racing.
First to ride was Georgi Gillet in the U10 race. This was a 10 minute race with the U10 boys and an additional U12 girl. Georgi rode superbly and stayed with the U12 girl until just before the bell lap to get a win in the U10 Girls category.
Next up were Sam Martin & Poppy Kisley in the U14/U16 Boys/Girls race. This was a 30 minute race and in the very warm conditions made for a very tough race, but Poppy and Sam got into the leading bunch with 2 others and worked well together to eventually lap the remainder of the riders.
One U16 boy broke away with 3 laps to go leaving the remaining 3 to sprint it out – Sam winning the U14 race and Poppy came home 2nd in the U16 overall race and first U16 Girl.
Another fabulous set of results for them all and for the club, they keep on showing what a talented group of junior racers we have in the club. We wish them the best for the next round of the series and for all the upcoming events they are entered in.
