And here it is, the final club TT of the 2022 season and as always it concludes with the hill climb event at Avon Dassett. It’s our shortest race, at approximately 700 metres in length but don’t let that deceive you as it will still leave you gasping for air once you’ve climbed the hill, the very same one used in both the Men’s and Women’s Tours of Britain allowing you to see how your time measures up against the pros.
There are two trophies up for grabs too, one for the fastest woman, the Broadribb Trophy, and one for the overall winner – the impressive Durran Cup.
We will be combining the race with our Saturday club rides (hint: don’t eat cake before the hill climb) to give as many members as possible the opportunity to take part
This is the order of racing priority we will assign for all who register for our 2021 races:
1) Banbury Star CC members who’ve paid the TT supplement
2) Banbury Star CC members who’ve not paid the TT supplement
3) Team Cherwell members
4) Members of other clubs who have raced a TT with us last year
5) Everyone else
And within each of those categories, entry is determined based on the time you register to race so the earlier you do it the higher your chances of being able to take part.
Race Registration
Registration is on the day entrants only
For 2022, our time trials will be conducted under the umbrella of The League International rather than CTT. The biggest change introduced by this change is the need for all riders to hold TLI membership which must be taken out before registering to ride. No “on the line” membership can be taken out as you will have to enter your membership number into the registration form.
Race HQ
Race number collection starts from 10:00am in one of the car parks at the top of the climb and closes at 10:40am with the first rider off at 11:01am. Please note there are no toilets available here.

Race Route
After a standing start just past the cattle grid, all you have to do is pedal your lungs and legs in to oblivion up to the top of the first part of Burton Dassett hill taking care to avoid the sheep who have been known to wander onto the course at times. The grass is nice and soft if you do decide to keel over but beware any deposits from the aforementioned sheep!
