Breeze rides – can you help Heidi?

Most members should already be aware that Heidi Yates now works for British Cycling as a Community Developer, in partnership with Cherwell District Council. Even before this appointment, Heidi was already active in organising and leading Breeze women’s only rides for both members and non-members.

Breeze is British Cycling’s recreational programme dedicated to getting more women cycling. The UK-wide programme, which offers women of all abilities the chance to get back into cycling via fun, free, female-led bike rides has proved to be a huge success in making cycling more welcoming to women.

Guided Rides are open to everyone, with rides being led by British Cycling-trained Ride Leaders who offer the opportunity for anyone to discover or rediscover the joy of cycling in a friendly, supportive environment. There are three levels of Guided Rides – easy-going, steady and challenging – with each level designed to appeal to riders of differing levels of ability, confidence or experience.

To help develop the programme in our area, Heidi is now looking for volunteers to join her. During April next year some local courses will be run. The first Breeze Course will be on 1st April 2023, followed by a Guided Ride Course on 29th April. Both are one day courses and will be held at NOA in Banbury.

What the volunteers will receive from British Cycling

Heidi would therefore love to hear from any ladies who might be interested in helping her further promote this excellent initiative. It’s already been a great success in many parts of the country. You don’t have to be a club member to partake, so if you’re interested, then do email Heidi at  heidiyates@britishcycling.org.uk with any queries or for further information.
