The Friswell Cup time trial last Wednesday required testers to take on the steepest hill on any of our courses. So you’ll all be glad to know we’re now heading back to the Tysoe Ten which is just about our flattest but of course has a different type of notoriety and that’s the riders who get lost mid-route, never to be seen again.
Changes for 2023
Before jumping into the details of the race, there are some important changes for 2023 which all riders must be aware of:
- For 2023, we have decided to return to the umbrella of Cycling Time Trials which provides more flexibility and also allows us to host guest riders from other clubs who won’t have to pay any kind of third-party membership, we hope to see riders from around the region come to test themselves
- There is no pre-race registration for the first time since 2019, entrants can now just turn up, sign on, pay and race
- Front lights and helmets become mandatory, even for hill climbs. Rear lights have been required for several years.
Race HQ
Sign-on and race number collection starts from 6pm in the Sun Rising Natural burial ground car park and closes at 6.40pm with the first riders off at 7.01pm.

Race Route
After a standing start (which is flat so clipping in shouldn’t pose a problem), the course takes riders down towards Lower Tysoe before turning left and heading back towards the Hq and car park. At the A422 T-junction for Sun Rising Hill Road, riders must look carefully before turning left onto the main road. Proceding along the main road for approximately 5 miles, rider take a left turn at the crossroads onto Kineton Road towards Oxhill. Riders procedd through Oxhill village and turn left at The Royal Oak pub. Here riders will continue down the lane for 1.5miles before turning left at the crossroads. There is then a gradual uphill all the way to the finish line just after the entrance to Upper Tysoe village.
