Banbury Star Festival of Racing – sponsored by The New Foscote Hospital

As all members should know by now, this Sunday, the club are launching a new all-day Festival of Racing event at the local Shenington Go-Kart Circuit. What’s more we can today announce that we have an event sponsor – The New Foscote Hospital – see below

The recently re-surfaced track, with its fast straights and twisty technical sections should provide a day of exciting racing, in a safe closed-circuit environment. Whilst as we all probably know, most cycle races only give spectators limited viewing opportunities, the whole of the Shenington circuit can be seen from several vantage points. With multiple laps, for a total of 10 races throughout the day, it promises to be a day of non-stop action. This is also the penultimate round of the ORRL, with the club’s men currently in a strong second place.

Races for youth, juniors, men and women will start at 9am and continue all day until around 5pm., Racing for the Youth (U8-U16) will start the day, moving on to the Junior and Adult races from around midday. With chip timing you won’t have long to find out the results.

In addition, from around 4pm, the club will be putting on three Go-Ride races, for men, women and youth/juniors which are open to anyone – members or non-members. You can just turn up and enter these Go-Ride races on the day. So, this really is the perfect time and opportunity to give racing a try. These races will only be for a duration of around 10 minutes, with some brief coaching beforehand. All you need to bring is your bike, a helmet and a fiver.

Also, do tell your friends about it, the club welcomes the general public to come along to watch and see what fast short circuit racing is all about, as well as to see what Banbury Star has to offer. Admission and ample parking within the circuit is free and catering facilities will be available. There will also be various venders onsite including Big Bobble Hats, Kalas Cycling Clothing and much more.
