Downhill freewheel competition

To counter the uphill competition that favours the clubs’ mountain goats, we also hold a downhill freewheel race, competing for the Trinders Trophy where pedaling is strictly forbidden with the winner being the rider who can freewheel the furthest after descending the -13% hill from Hempton heading to Duns Tew.

Any type of bike can be used for this along with all other means to gain an aerodynamic advantage, nefarious or otherwise…..

The 2015 winner was Tom Giddings who also gets the honour of organising the 2016 event.
