About BSCC Racing

Banbury Stars race squad is a British Cycling registered team for Men’s, Women’s and Junior racing. The club has a proud racing heritage which continuous to this day across all disciplines. The main focus of the race squad is to encourage all riders to achieve their goals and full potential.

What can we offer
The club offers multiple training rides throughout the season to support the various disciplines during the racing season, this includes endurance training rides, chain gang, velodrome trips, racing support and coaching – see chain gang and coaching pages for further details.

Our long endurance ride starts every Sunday at 8am from Sainsbury’s Local, Walker Road, Banbury. The Zone 2 training ride is open to all riders who want to improve their endurance fitness and build up some base to facilitate aerobic development. The training ride is 3-4 hours with no café stop, riders are encouraged to arrive 10-15mins before start time. Check the club calendar for all training rides.

Every year, in the off-season, the club runs a Velodrome Trip to Derby Arena for members to experience indoor track cycling with a one-two hour session. The sessions include British Cycling registered coach with option to hire bike and shoes. See club socials or contact Race Secretary for more information.

Racing as a club
Banbury racers regularly compete in criterium, road races and open TT events throughout the racing calendar. The club is keen to encourage members who wish to obtain a race licence and progress through the race categories, which are explained on the British Cycling website. The club is currently part of the Oxfordshire Road Race League, competing in both Men’s and Women’s categories. This is great to learn team tactics, support individual goals and improve race craft skills. The club is always looking for new members to support the racing squad. Please visit the club calendar for future race events and links to sign up.
